Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a leading evidence-based treatment for eating disorders. CBT helps with understanding our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and develops strategies to change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors to improve functioning. In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), clients work to bring awareness to their unhelpful thinking styles, or cognitive distortions, that keep them stuck in their eating disorder. In this webinar, BALANCE Clinical Director Dr. Capri Warchol, PSY.D., LP, CEDS-S will explain the 10 most unhelpful thinking styles, a common tool used in CBT.

Capri Warchol, PSY.D., LP, CEDS-S
Dr. Capri Warchol is the Clinical Director at BALANCE Eating Disorder Treatment Center. Dr. Warchol joined the BALANCE team in 2020 and was previously Regional Director and Program Director at both the residential and outpatient levels of care treating eating disorders since 2008. In addition to acting as Clinical Director, she is also a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in New York and Connecticut. She holds both her CEDS Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and CEDS-S Supervisor designation from the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals. Dr. Warchol earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Marymount Manhattan College and her Master’s degree in Psychology from Long Island University. She completed her Doctor of Psychology degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where her primary research focused on the experiences of social comparison in residential treatment settings for clients with eating disorders. Dr. Warchol has over a decade of experience diagnosing and treating eating disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders in all levels of care. Dr. Warchol has worked in both clinical and supervisory capacities, providing individual, group, couples, and family therapy. Dr. Warchol is EMDR Trained and believes in treating the underlying issues that impact a person’s relationship with food and body. She practices therapeutically from a client-centered approach with the belief that each individual is the expert on their own life and has the ability to reach their full potential. As the Clinical Director at BALANCE, Dr. Warchol believes in creating a safe and collaborative environment in which every individual has a voice and an opportunity to grow.
